STORY OF
JÓGOVNA

A quiet yoga space in the heart of Prague.
Since 2016.

Jógovna is a boutique yoga studio located in the heart of Prague.

The studio is situated in an old Prague passage on Jindřišská Street, just a few steps from Wenceslas Square. The space where people now come to practice yoga was once part of two separate apartments.
High ceilings, large windows, wooden floors and natural light create an atmosphere that feels very much like old Prague — calm and human even in the middle of a busy city.
From the beginning, we felt it was important to preserve the character of this place and complement it only gently. The result is a space where the history of the building meets simple contemporary design.

In recent years, many new yoga studios have opened. They are often modern, minimalist and perfectly designed.

Jógovna is perhaps a little different.

příbeh

It carries a natural “old Prague vibe” — a historic city space where yoga is not only a physical practice, but also a way to pause for a moment.

Every detail matters to us — from mats and props to music, light and the atmosphere created between people.
At the center of the reception area stands a large communal table where people naturally gather before and after class — for tea, conversation, or simply a moment of quiet.
The space was created with the involvement of Milan Konečný from KON studio, who handcrafted all wooden elements in the interior.

The ceiling in the main yoga hall was painted by academic painters Eliška Konečná and Michael Nosek, giving the space its gentle and calm atmosphere.
Jógovna gradually became the first official place for Jivamukti Yoga in Prague.

Today it is a place where yoga practice, community and a moment of pause in the middle of the city come together.

JIVAMUKTI

Referring to Patañjali’s Yoga Sūtras, which state that an āsana should be sthira and sukham (steady and joyful, Jivamukti Yoga teaches that our relationship to others (āsana) should be mutually beneficial and rooted in a consistent (sthira) place of joy and happiness (sukham).

It’s a radical idea - one that, when put into practice, transforms the physical exercise of āsanas into something far beyond fitness or flexibility.
It becomes a way of being - a practice of improving our relationship with ourselves, with others, with animals, and with the Earth.
A way to dissolve the illusion of separateness, realize the oneness of being, and rediscover lasting happiness.

THE BASIC PHILOSOPHY OF JIVAMUKTI YOGA IS EXPRESSED THROUGH FIVE PILLARS:

AHIMSA

Nonviolence

Live in a way that causes no harm to any living being. Live with compassion — and let that compassion expand to everyone around you.
To those close to you and those far away.
To the ones you love, and even to those with whom you’ve had challenges. Extend compassion to animals, trees, nature — to the whole of Mother Earth. Live sustainably. Live with love.
Be a spiritual activist.

BECAUSE THERE IS NO PLANET B.
